We have news for you from Hatay!

We have news for you from Hatay!

We have been carrying out our relief efforts in the earthquake-stricken area without interruption since the first day. In the Kırıkhan district of Hatay, following the earthquake, we have built an educational complex consisting of a kindergarten, primary school, middle school, and vocational high school within a short period of 4 months. The complex is now in operation for the 2023-2024 academic year.

After the earthquake disaster, we have been carrying out our activities to support the disaster-stricken area from the very beginning. By assessing the conditions in the region, we identified the district with the greatest need in the field of education. We opened our educational complex, consisting of four buildings in Kırıkhan, Hatay, for the 2023-2024 academic year. The complex, covering an area of 18,830 square meters with a total of 5,674 square meters of enclosed space, includes four separate buildings with a total of 40 classrooms and has a capacity for 2000 students. The complex includes primary school, middle school, and vocational high school buildings, each with 12 classrooms, as well as a kindergarten with 4 classrooms.

In addition to education, the school provides opportunities for sports and various activities.

In the buildings of the Coşkunöz Education Complex, students not only continue their education but also have the opportunity to socialize, develop themselves, and engage in sports. In the primary school building, there is one each of science and visual arts workshops, a music classroom, a purposefully usable physical education hall, and an activity room. In the middle school building, there is a science laboratory, one each of visual arts and technology design workshops, a music classroom, and a multipurpose physical education hall. In the high school building, there are physics, chemistry, and biology laboratories, along with three food technology laboratories, a visual arts and music classroom, and a multipurpose hall. There is also a cafeteria in the primary school and kindergarten. In addition, an e-exam center will also operate within the complex.

The complex is in line with Anatolian and Hatay architecture, environmentally friendly.

The educational complex, completed in a short period of 6 months, is designed in accordance with Anatolian architecture, featuring courtyard-style, single-story buildings. The earthquake-resistant buildings, constructed with steel construction, bear traces of Hatay's traditional architecture. Unlike standard school projects, the buildings in the complex have antibacterial flooring, acoustic ceilings, and roofing with a tile-like appearance. The layout of the school buildings was meticulously planned to avoid harming the environment and trees. Except for trees identified by the Regional Directorate of Forestry as potentially dangerous or unhealthy, no trees were harmed within the complex.

Chairman of the board of directors of Coskunoz Education Foundation Oya Coşkunöz Aktaş said, "We believe that education is a cornerstone in the development of the country and the well-being of our people. For 35 years in the field of education, we have been shaping the future of young people with numerous projects such as scholarship funds, vocational training programs, employment programs, and grants. While extending our support to the disaster-stricken area and earthquake victims in the long term after the earthquake disaster, it was essential for us to help the children and young people in the region continue their education. The reunion of approximately 2000 children with school and education in our four modern and secure schools opened in Hatay Kırıkhan, and the echoing of their enthusiastic voices and happy laughter in the schoolyard and corridors bring us great joy. We sincerely thank the Ministry of National Education, Hatay Governorship, and the central and district National Education organizations for their support in the realization of this educational complex."
